Mangalore :  Shamima Shafiq, Member of the National Commission for Women, has arrived in Mangalore on August 16 to probe the Morning Mist Home stay attack that took place on July 28. The Hindu Jagarana Vedike activists who had barged into the home stay that evening, had attacked the partying youngsters including girls.

Upon arrival, Shamima Shafiq held talks with the two youngsters the only ones to come out in the open, among the victims of the attack.

Later, she addressed press persons and described the incident as shocking and unfortunate. She said she would meet all victims and then prepare a report. She also said that the two young victims with whom she spoke told her that the State women’s Commission Chairperson did not meet them before preparing her report.

Shafiq however declined to comment on the report of the State Commission for Women. She said the DGP and Karnataka police have not yet submitted the Action Taken Report National Commission for Women within ten days as directed by the latter.
Shamima Shafiq also visited the Morning Mist home stay where the attack took place.
