R Ashok on JDS MovtMangalore: Home minister R. Ashok on Saturday criticised the “anti-corruption movement” started by JDS opposition in the Karnataka state, targeting the ruling party, as just a political “gimmick”.
Ashok who was proceeding to Puttur on an engagement, spoke to Press reporters on Saturday on way. JDS movement can never be compared to Anna Hazare’s recent crusade at Jantar Mantar (in New Delhi) for Jan Lokpal, the transport minister pointed out. There was not a single “Mr. Clean” among those shouting slogans now against alleged corruption practiced by Yeddyurappa govt., he clarified, putting the blame on JDS propaganda.
Talking on Naxalite re-emergence, he said stringent measures were adopted by the state govt to put down Naxal movements. Amenities to rural people had increased in such affected areas, he added.
To a query by Press, the minister replied that the state govt had decided to introduce its own city buses in Mangalore/Udupi, step by step, to appease citizens.
