Bantwal: Minister Roshan Baig visited the Tumbe vented dam along with MCC officials without informing the local people leader, on Thursday.

Baig collected information from MLA J R Lobo and other MCC officials. Officers informed Minister about the protests being held by the farmers regarding the compensation for agricultural land which is likely to be submerged due to the dam. They also expressed their concern about not completing the work before the fixed time.

The survey of the land which might get submerged due to the dam is not completed yet.

In reply to these confusions Minister Roshan Baig said that the survey work has been started. When it gets over the compensation will be given to the farmers.

“It will be impossible to build a pathway on the dam, as it wasn’t mentioned in the original construction plan. Now the project reached the final stage, including the pathway at this point is not possible,” he said.

MCC Mayor Harinath, Corporators Lancelot Pinto, Shashidhar Hegde, Kavita Sanil, MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazeer, senior officer Madhe Gowda and others were present.
