Bantwal: Revenue minister R Ashoka assured to resolve all issues that are hampering growth, development and beautification of the town and cooperate in addressing them. Prime among them is the confusion that prevails about National Highway, the minister said, adding land will be acquired for construction of service roads on both sides, with drainage, footpath and handed over to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Interacting with elected representatives and officials pertaining to development of the town on Monday, Ashoka lauded the lead taken by major industries, entrepreneurs and others in beautifying the town. State government will assist all such efforts, he said, while directing officials concerned to complete the slated development works on time. Ashoka also lauded the lead taken by MLAs in following up on development projects with him.
Dakshina Kannada member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel said all development works initiated by the Union government including the National Highway development work in the town will be taken up on a war-footing. Grants will be provided for construction of bus bays in the town from MP Local Area Development funds, he said. This will ensure that other vehicles transiting through the town have free passage along NH, he added.
Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik said that various development and beautification works amounting to Rs 21.50 crore have been initiated in the town. Industries and donors have come forward to provide funds under their CSR activities and joined hands in this effort with state and central governments, he said. Works envisaged including widening of NH, construction of service road, circle near KSRTC bus station, beautification under the flyover, he noted.
