Mangaluru : A gold chain that a woman tried to snatch from the child’s neck in a moving bus was caught by by alert passengers and handed her over to Mulky station police on Friday August 7.
Chitra a resident of Suratkhal with her child Datri was returning with other family members after visiting Kateel temple by a bus plying to Mangaluru via Kinnigoli. Other family member travelling in the bus saw a woman trying to pull the chain from the Datri’s neck and informed bus conductor Diwaker Shetty. The woman speaking in Tamil seems to be from Tamil Nadu.
The woman was made to alight at Kinnigoli bus stand , and a few passengers and the bus conductor informed local people about it. Sunitha Zita Rodrigues a member of the Kinnigoli panchayat member immediately informed Mulky police who police arrived and arrested the woman, and are conducting an investigation. On Fridays buses plying from Kateel are crowded and also during days of religious importance make use this as an opportunity to make attempts by thieves . Conductor stated that many such incidents have occurred in this route” said conductor Shetty.
Recently two men on a motor mike pretended to seek a direction and tried to snatch chain from a woman in Guthanadu near Kinnigoli on August 6 and fled on their bike. The men had fled on their bike.
