NIT-K Director stresses on better interaction between edn institutions and industry

 St Joseph’s Engineering CollegeMangalore:  Prof. Swapan Bhattacharya, Director, NIT-K Suratkal,    addressed the students of St Joseph’s Engineering College, Vamanjoor on the topic “Challenges in Technical Higher Education- Perspectives, Issues and Concerns” as part of the Foundation Day Lecture of the College held at the Seminar Hall of the Mechanical College.

In his lecture, Prof Bhattacharya said the progress of a nation depended on the academic excellence of its people. He also underlined the need for better interaction and co-operation between the society, educational, research institutions and Industry.

Prof Bhattacharya also inaugurated a programme, “Continuous Professional Development” (CDPD) for the staff and students of the college. Dr Rio D’Souza, Vice Principal  said CDPD was an in house programme that brings internet based Webinar and other resources  in the better interests of the staff and students of the college.

Prof. Bhattacharya was felicitated by the management of the College for being awarded ET NOW National Education Leadership Award.

Fr Joseph Lobo, Director SJEC, Dr Prakash Pinto, Dean MBA  Department Fr Rohith D’Costa and Fr Ajith Menezes, Assistant Directors, Dr Joseph Gonsalves, Principal and others were present.
