latiCharge Mnagaluru :  Various organisations and citizens have collected over Rs 2 crore to help the two deceased
families and those who were injured in the recent Mangalore clashes.

“Funds started pouring in after Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa rolled back Rs 10 lakh compensation to the families of each victim that he had announced after the violence,” police officials probing the violence said.

Former MLA BA Mohiuddeen Bava is among those who are involved in collecting the funds. However, he refused to divulge details about the money collected so far. “Contributions may stop if we reveal this information. We are trying to help the victims’ families and the injured. They are facing financial difficulties after the recent violence,” he said.

On December 19, anti-CAA protests turned violent and a mob allegedly tried to attack a police station.
