Mangaluru : CISF officials detained a passenger at Mangaluru International Airport after he was found to be carrying various foreign currencies valued at over Rs five lakhs here on Saturday, January 11.
On 11.01.2020 at about 06.30 hrs during the X BIS Screening at International SHA of ASG Mangalore, CISF official observed some suspicious image in the hand baggage of a Pax namely Shahul Hameed Theruvath ( Indian, Pass port No Z3378071) supposed to travel by spice jet flight SG 059 for Dubai. Further the bag physically inspected and foreign currencies valued approx INR 548000/- of various countries.
(US dollars -76×100, Chinese currency- 1000×10 and 110×10, Malaysia currency -50×1, 10x01and 1×3, Turkey currency 10×2) was detected.
The recovered currency along with the passenger was handed over to Customs officials for further necessary action. Custom officials off loaded the passenger and initiated the investigation.
