Udupi : Under the  Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Incentive Scheme (PEAIS), national level awards have been won by the Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Karkala Taluk Panchayat and Maravanthe Gram Panchayat in Kundapur for the year 2012-2013.

Informing this, Prabhakar Sharma,CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayat said the award is in recognition of the accountability and various works done in the respective limits.

The awards will be presented on  Panchayat Raj Day at a function to be held in New Delhi on April 24.The award

The Awards carry cash prizes of Rs 40 lakhs, Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 14 lakhs respectively. The awards will increase the responsibilities of the respective panchayats, Prabhaker Sharma said. The Panchayats were selected for the awards by the   union ministry for rural development and Panchayat Raj  after examining their developments.
