Rajapur Gopalarao VijayasarathyBangalore :Rajapur Gopalarao Vijayasarathy, popularly known as RG Vijayasarathy, a much loved and admired Kannada film journalist is no more. He was unwell for the last few months and was admitted to the Ramaiah Hospital on Saturday. He died at around 10.40 am today.

RGV was also an actor and has acted in more than a 100 films. On Friday, he watched Mynaa, in which he appeared in a brief role as well. Though unwell, he went to a nursing home only after writing the review of the film. He was so dedicated to his work that he asked for a laptop on his hospital bed to write and mail news reports. Not known to many, his area of expertise went beyond just films. He regularly worte columns on topics ranging from foreign policy to international affairs for newspapers. From 1970s to just a day before he died, RGV wrote several articles every day. It is not an exaggeration to say that his writings on films have perhaps appeared in almost every newspaper, magazine and website catering to Kannada films.

A few days earlier, RGV wrote a brief introduction about himself, which is being reproduced here. In his own words…

He is a multitalented personality who has been quite successful in his stint as a Journalist  who  also dabbles in acting in films and teleserials whenever asked for.
Vijayasarathy is one of the Veteran journalist who has been writing in English and Kannada in many popular newspapers, periodicals, websites for more than thirty five years. He is one journalist who has interacted with many well known legends of the Indian film industry and has interviews many top Hollywood actors too.  He has covered many events in the Indian film industry and has been concentrating more on the Kannada film industry.

Vijayasarathy was introduced as an actor by actor-director Upendra when he opted him to play an important role in Operation Antha. Vijayasarathy played the role of   an ambitious politician who is pulling the legs of  his colleagues and opponents.   Since then Vijayasarathy has become a brand acting as a politician in many Kannada films.  He has also played the role of  former  Election Commissioner  T.N.Seshan in the film Shiva Sainya directed by Shivamani.

Vijayasarathy has acted in more than six hundred television episodes in serials directed by well known directors like T.N.Seetharam, Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar,  Phani Ramachandra,  P.Sheshadri, Nagendra Shah,

Though Vijayasarthy started off playing in small but significant roles, his  talents in the acting department have now led him to act in very important roles.  He has got appreciation for his performance in films like the recently released  Veera Parampare, Panacharangi and Gaana Bajaana.   He has provided shining performances in films like  Psycho, Chikkamagaloora Chikkamallige,  Surya Vamsha,  Kutumba, Gowramma.
