Mangalore: A person from Mangalore who purchased rice from a ration shop was shocked to see rat droppings in the 10 kg rice which he had purchased.
The incident took place on January 24 revealing the lackadaisical approach of the ration shopkeepers in ensuring that food items are placed in secure places.
When the person returned the rice to the ration shop keepers, he said it was not his fault but that of the suppliers and they should be contacted.
The wonder is if there is any authority who checks the quality of food supplied to fair price shops. The irresponsible attitude of the authorities towards this glaring issue is condemnable and consuming such food ingredients contaminated with rat faece is also hazardous to health.
