New Delhi: On the eve of India’s 63rd Republic Day celebrations, the President of India has arranged to confer Padma awards in a special function due in March or April at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. In the current list of awards, there are 5 Padma Vibhushan, 27 Padma Bhushan and 77 Padma Shri mentioned, of whom 19 women are.

Stage  artiste R. Nagarathnamma, Wildlife activist Ulhas Karanth(son of Dr.K. Shivaram Karanth), Yakshagana wizard Chittani Ramchandra Hegde, and Scientist Engineer Dr. Y.S. Sundera Rajan are named for Padmia Shri awards in 2012.

But, the heart specialist doctor of Narayana Hrudayalaya Dr. Deviprasad Shetty will get Padma Bhushan award.

There are 109 award winners in all, under 14 categories.
