Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka visits flood affected areas

Ashoka-Flood-Area Bengaluru : Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka visited Donigal to take stock of the flood situation on Saturday.

Minister for excise and Hassan district in charge Mr Gopalaiah also joined Mr Ashoka. Later speaking to the media, Mr Ashoka said, “We had already conducted meetings with deputy commissioners and asked them to speed up relief efforts. I have directed the deputy commissioner to allow the movement of light vehicles and complete the road repair works within a month. The DCs have been directed to provide compensation under NDRF funds. CM Mr BS Yediyurappa is in constant touch with ministers and officials and is monitoring the flood situation. A sum of Rs 5 lakh will be paid as compensation to those who lost their houses and an initial payment of Rs 10,000 will be provided as a temporary relief. Tomorrow, we will be conducting an aerial survey with CM. Officials have been told not to take leaves and attend to people’s help. Around 78 houses have been damaged in Hassan while six houses have collapsed. 50 bridges and tank bunds have also been damaged in Hassan.”
No change in leadership: Mr R Ashoka

Revenue Minister Mr R Ashoka also clarified that there was no change in leadership as BS Yediyurappa will continue as CM. “Currently, we are focussed on flood relief efforts. We are a national party and all decisions will be taken within four walls. We have an able team under the leadership of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda who will take a call. We have great respect for the pontiffs and thank them for their suggestions. However, decisions will be made by the party high command. Everyone, including me, is committed to follow the decisions of the High Command.”
