Bangalore : There is some good news for people who  say they are deprived of BPL cards for no reason. As per the relaxed norms those having RCC house or two-wheeler or TV set can also apply for BPLK status.

Informing this, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Dinesh Gundu Rao the status of APL will now apply to those who are government employees, tax- payers and car owners also.

The Minister said presently 1.5 crore people are given BPL status and added t he benefits under relaxed rules can reach 3.5 crore people.

Thjere is also scope for applying for conversion of APL cards to BPL cards, to the eligible beneficiaries.
