Mangaluru: “When Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu visited Mangaluru, we had briefed him about the facilities of Mangaluru and he had promised to include Mangaluru in smart city project list,” said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said that the state and Central government and the public should join hands to make this project a successful one. MLA J R Lobo and district in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai also strived for this moment. This is not at all a political programme, it is a developmental programme.
“We have given a area based proposal of 1628 acres. This area is identified as central business district and it is around Hampankatta, Carstreet, and Bunder. Under Pan City Development programme integrated citizen interface platform will be introduced with dual access that is ‘one touch Mangalore’ for mobile phones and ‘one access Mangalore’ for web,” he said.

“A company of directors will be formed to invigilate the corruption and other possible faults in the implementation of projects. The funds should be utilised within the given time. The project will also help in generating revenue of the city. The project should be completed within next five years.
