Mangaluru : No truth in some reports which claimed that the former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was behind de-stabilising the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress coalition government in the State said, Senior Congress leader Basavaraja Rayaraddi said here on Tuesday .
Mr. Rayaraddi said that “those reports might have been planted by those who wanted to spoil the name of Mr. Siddaramaiah”.
“Mr. Siddaramaiah is a man of commitment and quality,” he said and added that there is no reason why he should de-stabilise the government.
Mr. Rayaraddi said that those who want to disrepute Mr. Siddaramaiah might be in the BJP or in the Congress.
He said that Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa should dissolve the Assembly and the State should opt for another Assembly elections. It is because the BJP does not have full majority in the Assembly, he claimed.
Accusing the BJP of following “double standards” while forming the government in the State, he alleged that the BJP does not have morality.
The Congress leader alleged that the Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not have a clear-cut economic objective to take the country forward. The country is also facing economic crisis, he alleged.
V.R. Sudarshan, party leader and chairman of a fact-finding committee of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee which is analysing the factors which led to the set-back to the party in last year’s Assembly and this year’s Lok Sabha polls in the State, said that there is a need to amend the 10th Schedule of the Constitution to prevent its misuse. There is a need to have a debate on it in Parliament, he said.
The Modi government should take the lead in bringing in electoral reforms, Mr. Sudarshan said.
K. Harish Kumar, president, Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee and also an MLC, and U.T. Khader, former Minister, were present.
