Mangalore: A speeding city bus skid from NH66 and fell into a gorge near Kallapu on June 27, Wednesday, injuring more than 15 passengers on board.

This happened at around 11:00 a.m. when the driver of Maroli Travels – Route Number 43A tried to overtake another bus. Both buses were going at breakneck speed.

Two of the injured passengers are in a serious condition and are now taking treatment in private hospitals in Mangalore. Nine other passengers are taking treatment in Shara Hospital in Thokkottu, and five more are in Sahara Hospital in Thokkottu.

A passenger, who escaped without injuries, said that the two drivers were trying to race each other for a long time before the accident.

The front part of the bus has been completely damaged.
