Udupi: Sri Rama Navami is a very popular Hindu festival observed for 9 days in several Ram mandirs, and in public events conducted in Mangalore and Udupi.

The Paryaya Sode Vadiraj Math has taken up the Rama-Hanuma Jayanthi Festival of 9 days duration from March 29, Thursday, at Sri Math’s Rajangana where devotees are thronging since few days.

Krishnapur Math seer Vidyasagara Tirtha inaugurated the programme by lighting a traditional lamp and giving his blessings. Paryaya Sode Math Swami Vishwavallabha was present, to inaugurate the digitalisation work to save palm leaf scripts/inscriptions of Sri Krishna temple storage room.

Bangalore’s Tara Digitalisation Center’s  expert Gururaja Moorthy and Sode Math Dewan Padigar Srinivas Tantri attended.

Indrali Yakshagana Centre performs ‘Jatayu Moksha’, a ballet, today(March 30). There are several other cultural shows and spiritual spectacles during the joyous nine days of celebrations of Sri Rama-Hanuma birthdays.

On March 31, Alva’s students conduct cultural items.

On Sunday, April 1st Pt. Upendra Bhat sings Geet Ramayana. There is Yakshagana Prasanga on April 2, and a Harikatha recital by Lalita Uliyal from Mysore, on April 4.
