Mangalore: The Sri Rama Sene Activists staged a protest in front of Besant College in Mangalore on Friday, February 14 against the Valentine’s Day celebrations in the city and burnt Valentine’s Day cards.
Kumar Malemar, district president, Sri Rama Sene said that We have to keep our culture, we are discouraged Western culture. Association condemns the celebration of Valentine’s Day in the city. Youths should celebrate the Indian festivals, but not the western culture.
“We have requested to the Card sellers, not to sell the Valentine’s Day cards. But we found the cards in some shops, which were kept for sale. So we are burning those cards,” he added.
Further Malemar said that the organization also informed the hotel owners not to organize special events on this day for students and lovers.
Members of Sri Rama Sene gathered in huge numbers and hold a protest rally in the city.
