Chikkamagaluru : Sri Rama Sene will organise Dattamala programme at Gurudattatreya Peeta here on October 25. The Dattamala Abhiyaan which will begin on October 19 will continue till October 25.
Around 5,000 devotees from across the state will take part in the Abhiyaan wearing Dattamala and with Irumudi on their head to offer it to Lord Guru Dattatreya.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Sri Rama Sena National president Pramod Mutalik said that Shobhayaatre will be conducted as part of Dattamaala in the city on October 25 at 9.30 am.
The procession which will commence at Kamadhenu Ganapati Temple will pass through the majr streets of the city, before ending at Bola Rameshwara Temple.
Around 100 Sadhus will participate in the Abhiyan including 35 Naga Sadhus from Ayodhya. Jevargi Andolan Mutt seer Siddalinga Swami, Dharwad Sardharwa Samanwaya Peet seer Sangamananda Swami, Pranavananda Swami of Akhila Bharata Hindu Mahasabha and others will part take.
He clarified that Dattamala being celebrated from the past 10 years by Sri Rama Sena is not an alternative to the traditional Dattamala. Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Baj Ranga Dal are celebrating Datta Jayanti. “The Datta Jayanti being celebrated by Sangha Parivaar has become BJP Jayanti. If they keep BJP aside, we are ready to support them,” he said.
Sri Rama Sene State president K V Mahesh Kumar Kattimane, District president Gowtham Balehonnur, Durga Sena District president Sharadamma were present.
