Three APMC officials arrested by Lokayukta officials, Rs 1.52 lakh seized

APMC officialsMangalore : The Lokayukta officials conducted a raid and arrested three officials of the Agricultural produce market committee (APMC) for collecting the bribes from the traders and seized the amount of Rs 1.52 lakh on May 8, Thursday.

The arrested three officials are APMC enforcement department joint director B Satish Kumar and lower rank officials Jagadishaiah and Venkateshaiah and are expected to produce before the court in afternoon.

Reportedly, the sleuths arrested Satish Kumar from a club in Kadri and seized Rs one lakh from his possession, while other two hailing from Bangalore, are arrested from hotel in Puttur and seized Rs 26000 from each.

It is learnt that these officials used to collect bribe from the agricultural merchants who tried to evade tax.

Lokayukta DySP Umesh Shet and staff Vijaya Prasada, Dilip Kumar and Naveen participated in the raid operation.
