Mangalore : MLA and Dy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat launched the website of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy ‘www.tuluacademy.org’ at a programme held at the academy on Jan 15, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that, the previous government had devoted the amount of Rs 7 lakhs to the Tulu Academy, but the present BJP government had sanctioned the amount of Rs 40 lakhs for the academy.
He also said that, he had put forth the proposal of Rs 2 crore for the construction of Tulu Bhavana.
Mayor Rajani Duganna released books like “Bangle Gudde Sannakka,” a collection of Tulu paad-dhanas by Poovappa Kaniyoor; “Tuluva Shrikrishna,” by Duggappa Kajekar; and “Bharatha Kavyo Pasadi – Part II” by Kamalaksha K on the occasion.
Academy President Palthady Ramakrishna Achar said that today is the golden days for the Tulu Academy. The Government had ordered to create the website for all the Academies but it was possible this year.
He also said that, the new website launch comprises an introduction to Tulu Nadu, the Academy objectives, and photographs. An English version of the website, which is currently in Kannada, will soon be created. The profiles of the winners of the annual prizes of the Academy will also be published. The website will provide the Academy’s background, details of books, administrative details, photo gallery, future events, and so on.
