Mangalore: The Tulunada Rakshana Vedike(Protection Plat form or Forum) in a letter on January 7, addressed to Labour Commissioner of Karnataka through Udupi district Deputy Commissioner (Dr. M T Reju), has sought suitable compensation to the family of a factory worker called Ashfaq(23) son of Abdul Rahiman, belonging to Koteshwara in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district who was seriously injured in a blast in the factory (Cooling technique refrigerator/air conditioner)as on 19-12-2011 at 6-30PM at Bangalore and taken to a private hospital from Bangalore to Udupi since 20days and who needed medical help in a “Near-death” Condition now.
The factory owner, when approached for monetary help, refused to provide any assistance, the vedike informed authorities.
The factory had clearly violated all Labour rules and regulations by refusing to provide any relief to Ahfaq and his parents. The Vedike urged the authorities to arrange for due relief to the suffering workman, and to provide on duty safety measures to all workman, and to provide on duty safety measures to all workers in the factory, failing which, to take action against the employer as per law for his violations.
