Mangaluru: Home minister Ramalinga Reddy said there are two ‘terror factories’ operating in Dakshina Kannada district creating terror among people.
Reddy said the coastal district has Sangh Parivar on one side, and Popular Front of India (PFI) and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) on the other sidedisturbing peace.
“They have made the region their terror factories. We have already started our strike against them. Soon after I took charge as the home minister, I prepared an action plan. The police have started a plan of action to check their moves,” Reddy said attacking the three outfits.
On the mode of action being taken against them, the home minister said, “I cannot divulge more details on the action being taken against them openly.”
To a query on BJP’s demand to ban PFI and SDPI, Reddy said both wings were operational during BJP’s tenure itself, but no action was taken against them. “PFI and SDPI were operational when BJP was in power.
However, their government did not take action against them since BJP wanted their support to split Congress’ vote bank. Now those terror factories have been expanding their wings. Hence, we have started action,” he added.
Rebuking BJP’s claims that Hindu youths are being killed in Karnataka by Muslims during the Congress government’s tenure, Reddy said there are 10 murder cases where Hindus were killed by Hindu activist groups.
“BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje has sent a letter to Union home minister Rajnath Singh complaining that 23 Hindus were killed by Muslims in Karnataka. In fact, only 10 out of 23 were killed by Muslims.
The list of slain Hindu youths prepared by Shobha Karandlaje also includes name of a person, who is still alive. The list also contains names of those died because of other reasons like suicide and personal grudge,” he added.
On Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s proposed visit to Mangaluru to address at the Janasuraksha Yatre on Tuesday, Reddy suggested, “Let him control the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh before teaching us.”
Karnataka has witnessed more crime during BJP’s tenure compared to Congress rule. While 8,885 murders were reported during BJP’s tenure from 2008 – 12, the number has decreased to 7,759 during our regime, Reddy said.
On BJP’s demand for total ban on cow slaughter, the home minister said he is personally of the opinion that all type of animal slaughter should be banned. “None of us has the right to kill animals.
All of us worship cows and it should not be slaughtered. Personally, I have objection to the killing of any animal. Let BJP leaders put pressure on the Centre to ban all slaughter houses and export of beef. Uttar Pradesh ahs so beef export units . Let them ban those units,” he urged.
