Mangalore : The Department of Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare observed the 95th birth anniversary of former Karnataka Chief Minister Devaraj Ursat Taluk Panchayat Auditorium here on Friday, August 20.
Recollecting the serviced rendered by Urs, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, said that the minister had worked for the welfare of the backward classes and Dalits.
The present governments must work hard to fulfill the dream and aim of Urs to develop the backward class people and make them walk along with other classes.
President of Mangalore Taluk Panchayat Ramachandra Kumpala in his presidential speech said that Urs was an exceptional gem in the field of politics, never found in the history of the state.
The talented students from different BCM hostels of the Taluk along with the retired cook were felicitated by the department on the occasion.
Vice President of Taluk Panchayat Shreeyala Hegde, Former President Gokuldas Shetty, Social Standing Committee President Ramesh Poojari and Member of Taluk Panchayat Mohammed Shareef were present on the occasion.
