Mangalore : Prof. M. B. Puranik, the regional vice president of the state unit of the VHP said that Hindu Samajotsava is being held in every taluk from past 20 years and the event at Uppinangady was also the part of it, held to create awareness among Hindus on Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill.
Speaking at the press meet held at VHP office on January 24 Tuesday, he said that the permission for the event had been obtained much before and they were large number of police officials deployed to maintain law and order, in spite of this the group of another community began pelting stones on Hindus while returning from the venue.
He also said that VHP and the Bajrang Dal condemn the police move of charging FIR against RSS leader Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka. Bhat is a straightforward man who speaks honestly and that the Hindu organization will organize intense protests if the FIR against him is not withdrawn, he said.
Hindu leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Gopal Kuthar, Harish Amtady and Shivanand Mendon were present.
