janagraha-sabeUdupi: Raghavulu, all-India Joint Secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), said on Sunday that sadhus, sants and the Hindu community wanted the construction of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

He was speaking at the Janagraha public meeting seeking construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya, organised by the VHP at the Rajangana Parking Space here.

Mr. Raghavulu said that as the Supreme Court was delaying giving a verdict on the Ram Temple issue, sadhus and sants were of the opinion that a Bill could be brought in Parliament for the construction of the Ram Temple.

The VHP was approaching MPs of all political parties on this issue, he said.

A Dharma Sansad would be held at Prayagraj on January 31, 2019, and February 1, 2019, and it would be attended by a large number of sadhus and sants from different parts of the country. This Dharma Sansad would give further directions on the issue of Ram Temple, he said.

Prayers would be offered in temples across six lakh places, including towns and cities, for one week from the Gita Jayanti on December 18 seeking the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Mr. Raghavulu said.

Manjunath Swamy, head, South Zone Public Relations, VHP, said that the country faced threat from Islamic terrorism.

The Supreme Court had overlooked the sentiments of Hindus and devotees of Lord Ram by delaying the verdict on the temple. If the Supreme Court gave a verdict stating that Babri mosque existed, it would not be accepted, he said.

Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt said that the time was now opportune for the construction of the Ram Temple.

Shobha Karandlaje, MP, who accepted a memorandum seeking construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya from the Palimar seer, said that she would hand it over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier, a procession was taken out from Jodu Katte to Rajangana Parking Space, here.
