Mangalore : A decorated Ratha Yatra “Vivek Vijaya Patha”, Arrived at Mangalore city corporation on the early morning of Tuesday 5th November. To be received by the Mangalore Ramakrishna Ashrama Jithakamanandaji and his followers.
The decorated car (Ratha) was captained by Sri Swami Thaygishwaranandaji President od Bangalore Ramakrishna Matt, a senior monk in the order of Ramakrishna. The Ratha was later flagged of by Manglore South MLA J.R Lobo.
In is welcome address Shubodaya Alva (Reception committee president) expressed hi happiness of all Mangaloreans on the great occasion of receiving the decorated Ratha, that had passed through 23 districts since March 2012.
In is keynote address to the people at large, Swami Thaygishwaranandaji who led the Ratha Yatra informed that he left Bangalore with a band of devotees of Swami Vivekananda andwas very pleased at such a large reception that he received in Mangalore in front of MCC with City MLA JR lobo present on the site.
Swamiji informed his listeners that he had covered 8000 kms with in the state of Karnataka in his Ratha yatra so far and was looking forward to complete it seven more district before he entered Bangalore once again.
Addressing the students of several high schools, such as Sharadha Vidyalaya, Canara High School and Aloysius High school, MLA JR Lobo, told them that India was a great country with historic tradition and several hundred types of culture, but swamy Vivekananda was the only lode star of all these cultures and civilization that have come in the last 20 centuries. Our students should follow swamiji’s lectures, Ideals and achievements in a short frame of only 40 years of struggle, dedication and suffering.
Lobo advised students and citizens of Mangalore at large to adopt the leadership of the the great national finger that Swami Vivekanada was.
President of Ramakrishna Matt Swami Jithakamanand Maharaj also spoke suitably on the occasion.
Rathyatre committee P V Mohan, Capt Ganesh karnik, Mangalore City Corporation Commissioner Shanadi Ajith Kumar Hegde, former mayor Shasidhar hegde, Tejoymaya and many political leaders were also present.
Ratha yatra than proceeded to the Mangalore Ramakrishna Matt near Sri Mangaladevi Temple Via the streets of MG Road-PVS circle-Bunts hostel-Jyoti-Bendorerwell-Kankanady-Marnemikatta.
The rally ended at the Centenary Hall of the Ramakrishna Matta at about 11.30am.
Inaugurating the meeting of high school students Jevaraj Alva informed them that Vivekananda topped the list of great leaders who inspired all Indians and people of the world. He asked the student to follow the teachings of swamiji in their on lives and become national leaders in future with a brave heart.
President of Mangalore Ramakrishna Matt Swami Jitakamanandji chaired the occasion. Swami Thaygishwaranandaji and MLA JR Lobo spoke on the occasion, inspiring the Students. To follow the path of Swami Vivekananda on his 150th Anniversary.
Later in the evening at 5 pm, a color full procession of about 500 people of Chende players, Dancing dolls, Married women’s besides a small band of Daff-beating children from muslim scholls proceeded from Neharu Maidan to Ramakrishna Matt at 6 pm.
Leaders such as B Janardhan Poojary, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLA JR Lobo, Mahabala Marla, Shashidhar Hegde and Swami Jitakamanandji were present on the occasion.
The Ratha yatra will continue on Thursday to Thokkottu and Ullal.
