Mangalore : Krishna J. Palemar, District-in-charge Minister inaugurated a week-long state-level Kannada book fair at Nehru Maidan on Oct 24, Sunday. This fair is said to be the biggest Kannada book exhibition in Karnataka organized by Kannada Book Authority (KBA).
Presiding over the event, Dr. Siddalingaiah, Chairman of KBA said that the book fair has been organized with the intention to introduce famous Kannada writers and their ideologies to the common people.
Around 30,000 books from 87 book sellers and publishers have been displayed in 120 marts. The exhibition will be open for public viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. till the end of October.
The variety of Kannada books, including guides on various subjects, children’s books, biographies, yoga, diet, health and many other books are available. There are also Tulu, Beary, and Konkani books written in the Kannada script.
Cultural programmes will also be conducted as part of the exhibition.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLA Yogish Bhat, MLA U. T. Khader, litterateur Yerya Laxminarayana Alva and others were present.
