Bangalore: Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa is learnt to have once again stepped up pressure on the party high command to choose him as the State BJP President, now that his choice Jagadish Shettar is the chief minister.
It is learnt, Yeddyurappa was also planning to quit in case his demand was turned down. It is learnt, the soft policy of Yeddyurappa towards the Congress was with some far sightedness that he can enter into an alliance with that party in case he floats a new party.
Already, Yeddy supporters including excise minister Renukacharya and MLAs BP Harish and Shivanagowda Naika have placed forth demand to make Yeddy the State BJP chief.
On the other hand, Belur Gopalkrishna who earlier identified himself with the Yeddy camp and has now jumped to the DVS camp after he was denied a cabinet berth, has demanded that Sadananda Gowda be made the State BJP chief.
On the other hand, there is a strong suspicion that the BSY faction had resorted to cross voting in favor of Pranab in the recently held Presidential elections.
