Mangaluru : Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa said BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa has no credibility to speak on corruption.
He said on Saturday, Yeddyurappa still faces corruption charges in seven to eight cases. “It looks like Yeddyurappa is the CBI’s director of Karnataka as he has been getting all minute details of Congress. He is engaged in levelling charges with minute details of probe of income tax officials during a raid on MLC Govindaraj. Even before the officials could come out, Yeddyurappa has give out the details on kickbacks received by the Congress leaders, which was found in the diary of Govindaraj.”
He accused Yeddyurappa of sowing the seeds of caste in Karnataka and dividing the people on the lines of caste and religion.
He sought a thorough investigation into the kickback row and Congress by a competent authority to bring out the truth. The probe should look into how details in the diary of Govindaraj were leaked.
Reacting to his brother Kumar Bangarappa joining the BJP, he said, “He is in a national party, I am a member of a regional party.”
Madhu said people in Shivamogga district have blessed the JD(S) by electing three MLAs and Zilla Panchayat president. The party would perform much better in Shivamogga as well as in Uttara Kannada and South Karnataka in 2018 Legislative Assembly election. JD(S) would an account in undivided Dakshina Kannada district too, he claimed.
He said only “rejected candidates” like Kumar Bangarappa and Jayaprakash Hegde are joining BJP.
He accused the Central government of showing stepmotherly attitude towards Karnataka by declaring several villages coming under Western Ghats as eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) amid opposition from the people. But the objections raised by Kerala have been accepted while declaring ESZ there, he criticised.
Madhu Bangarappa clarified that he would not join Congress. “It is true that I had received an invitation from Congress as well as the BJP. I will be with the JD(S) that has helped me to grow as a leader,” he added.
