Bengaluru : Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa inaugurated 2500 Smart classes for Government First Grade Colleges under Digital Learning Programme and symbolically distributed tablet PCs to students of Government Higher Education Institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the programme is beneficial in moulding the future of the students. Smart classes will include projectors, white board, Android box, UPS and internet facility which will facilitate both teaching and learning. The programme is taken up at cost of Rs.27.77 crore.
Despite the impediment caused by the Covid 19 pandemic , the Government has made all efforts to scientifically implement Digital Learning Programme in Government Higher Education Institutions. This will bring about a complete change in the State’s Higher Education sector, the CM said.
Students of government colleges are empowered to face the challenges of 21st century with confidence through this Digital learning, he opined.
Dr.C.N.Ashwathnarayan, Deputy Chief Minister and minister for Higher education said that, the Government will be distributing tablet PCs to 1.55 lakh students at a cost of Rs.163 crore. The program will benefit 430 students of Government first grade college, 87 Government polytechnic’s first and second year students and first, second and third year students of 14 Government Engineering colleges.
Classrooms in Government higher education institutions are being upgraded to ICT smart classrooms. Karnataka LMS , a comprehensive learning management system is providing a platform to a unique and modern teaching and learning process which is ideal to conduct both online and offline classes. Rs. 4.07 crore has been spent on this project, the DCM explained.
In the year 2021-22, all students admitted to government higher education institutions will be provided tablet PCs. 6500 classrooms will be upgraded into smart classrooms in the current year.
