Mangalore : A two-day state level workshop on ‘Statistical computing using R’ has been organized by the Department of Statistics, St Agnes College at its premises in Conference Hall on July 16 and 17.
The workshop is aimed to build the skills of faculty members, research scholars, and students to enhance their research and analytical skills.
Statistics has become important for the development of science, statistics plays a vital role both for the theoretical content and application value and in almost all the sectors for scientific development statistical methods are used.
Giving his inaugural address chief guest Prof. Srivenkataramana, director, MBA programme, Brindavan College, Bangalore said that in the earlier days there were no ladies much in the field of statistics and now it is good trend that we can see more ladies coming up in the field.
He also said that research is like engine of a train and the primary responsibility is with the researcher in any development process.
He then gave a power point presentation on ‘Statistical methods: Applications’
