Mangalore : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily will inaugurate Delhi Tulu Siri, a Tulu convention to be held at Delhi Kannada School premises on February 24 to mount pressure on the Central Government to include Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the constitution.
The programme will be held under the joint aegis of Tulu Siri, Tulu Sahitya Academy and Department of Kannada and Culture. The Convention would prevail upon the government to grant Tulu its due status.
Several leaders including Union Ministers Mallikarjun Kharge, K Rehman Khan, Muniappa, Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes, DV Sadananda Gowda, former CM, Jayaprakash Hegde, MP, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation and others were present.
Tulu cultural programmes will be presented on the occasion.
Umanath A Kotian, president, Tulu Sahitya Academy,Chandrahas Rai, Dr Padmanabha Bhat, Prof Tukaram Poojary, Jaganath Shetty, and Manjula were present at the press meet.
