Mudabidri: the Mohan Alva’s Academy on Vidyagiri in rural Moodubidri celebrated the Independence Day as only it can, on Sunday last, with 8000 students participating in the hearty and glorious celebrations on west coast.
Dr. Ravishankar Rao of Mangalore University, hoisted the national flag, followed by national anthem singing by all.
Dr. Rao, English Reader, recalled the sacrifices made by many illustrious freedom fighters (without seeking selfish returns) to gain political freedom to revive historic Indian culture and asked his listeners to be kind to each other when different opinions are expressed on a subject.
He wanted a positive personal attitude, creative talents to flower, and a happy life for all young. He urged them to represent India and note just a region to be proud of.
Dr. Alwa’s college Band and mother Theresa Brass Band joined the celebration to entertain all students. There was a feast at the end of it all.
