Udupi : District In charge Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake hoisted the Flag at 68th Independence Day celebration held on August 15 Friday.
Minister was also given a guard of honour in the open jeep.
Speaking on the occasion he said that, Children are the future of the nation and it is important the every parent preach the moral values and respect to be shown towards the nation. Every citizen must work towards the ultimate goal in making Mahathma Gandhiji’s dream nation.
He also said that, the state government has successfully launched Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya and Manaswini schemes. Apart from it, the amount of Rs 199 lakh had been released for Endosulfan victims as the monthly pension.
Sorake also briefed on schemes such as sports ground to the district and university sub centre at Thenkanadiyooru for the betterment of the students. A special programme ‘Prachya Prajne’ will also be implemented soon to create awareness about the heritage.
DC Muddumohan, ZP CEO Kanagavalli, ZP president Savitha Shivanand, SP Rajendra Prasad, MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, CMC president Yuvaraj and others were present.
The colourful parades from 20 educational institutions gave a visual treat for the audience.
