Mangalore : In response to the call given by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Corporation Bank organized a cleaning campaign in Udupi as a part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” . The employees of the Bank lead by Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank took part in the cleaning campaign. Shri Shrikant, Commissioner of Udupi Municipality, General Managers, Executives and Employees of the Bank took part in the programme.
Large number of employees took part in the programme by cleaning the Udupi bus stand and spruced up the area. The message was also conveyed to the people that it is not a onetime task but should a continuous process.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri S R Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director of the Bank said that “The Swachh Bharat Movement is a best tribute which can be given to our Father of Nation Mahatama Gandhi”. The Bank conducted the campaign at Udupi which also happens to be the birthplace place of the Bank. The Bank started functioning on 12th March 1906 in the temple town of Udupi in the then South Kanara District under the leadership of Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur – a great philanthropist.
The Bank under “Swach Vidayalaya Scheme – Under the Aegis of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” will be constructing 100 toilets across the country in the schools which do not have this facility. The Bank will be constructing Five Toilets in the schools in Udupi region of the Bank. The Bank has plans to conduct many such campaigns at other places also throughout the country.
