Mangaluru: “When poor’s and farmers are considered, demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 shows the lack of foresight of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
He was addressing the gathering at mega Congress party workers convention organised to mark the birth centenary of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Nehru Maidan on Saturday.
“It is welcoming step from the Prime Minister, but his lack of foresight has ruined the sleep of poor’s and farmers. In his speech Modi said that sleepless nights of black money holders begun, but in reality poor’s are having sleepless nights. Farmers are not being able to pay their debts; poor’s cannot pay hospital bills in private hospitals. If Modi was foresighted as Indira Gandhi then there would not be such crisis situation,” he said.
Further praising Indira Gandhi’s ruling he said that she was the best PM of India. Atal Bihari Vajapeyi called her ‘Durga’ when she freed Bangladesh from Pakistan. She is the one who nationalised the banks in 1969, there by bringing a huge change in India economy. She made poor people to enter into the banks and to avail loans.
“The Congress government has fulfilled 125 promises out of 165 mentioned in election manifesto. I had also requested the union government to waive 50 percent of loan taken by farmers and the rest will be waived by the state government, but the Central government didn’t respond for the letter. Our government has taken inspiration from Indira Gandhi to implement pro-poor schemes and to eradicate hunger from the state,” he added.
Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar in his address said that entire Indian economy which was built by Indira Gandhi was spoiled by one decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
KPCC Working President Diensh Gundu Rao said that Modi led Central government has capitalistic approach. Land acquisition bill was passed by the BJP government to help industrialists. The government released fund to MNREGA scheme after the intervention of Supreme Court.
“No pro-people works has been done by the Central government is past two and half years. Sangha Parivar and BJP called us anti-national elements. They made poor people to stand in queue in front of the banks. Mosi should apologise the public for causing inconvenience to them,” he urged.
Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Congress party leaders and party workers were present during the occasion.
