Veerarani Abbakka Utsav-2017 to be held on February 4 and 5single33

Abbakka Uttasava Mangaluru: Veerarani Abbakka Utsav-2017 is scheduled to be held at the Asaigoli Kendra Maidan in Konaje on February 4 and 5 commemorating contribution of Ullal queen Abbakka. Karnataka State Minister for Culture Umashree will inaugurate the event. Prior to the inaugural session, ‘’ a cultural procession will be held from Derlakatte to the venue.

Speaking to media the celebration commitee members said, Rani Abbakka Kreedotsava has been organised at Vidyodaya Higher Primary School Grounds Asaigoli as part of the event. A seminar focusing women titled ‘Mahile Mattu Asaampradayika Nelegalu,’ will also be organised as part of the event on February 05.

At the formal function, ZP Chief Meenakashi Shantigodu will inaugurate cultural programmes while noted writer Vaidehi will inaugurate the different sessions to be held as part of the Utsav.

On February 5, Sunday a women’s seminar named “Mahile mattu Asaampradayika Nelegalu’’ will be held under the presidentship of Dr. Preethi Shubha Chandra. A multi-lingual poets meet to be held in the afternoon will be chaired by Bhagirathi Hegde.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will confer the Veera Rani Abbakka Award to Prof. D Vedavathi in the valedictory function of the event. Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Karnataka state Food and Civil Supplies Minister U T Khader and other dignitaries are expected to take part in the programme.
