Mangalore: Movie buffs in the city are set to have an entertaining weekend with the inauguration of the International Film Festival-2012 at SDM College of Business Management Conference Hall, here on Thursday, January 19.
The film festival is being jointly organized by Sahamatha Film Society, Mangalore and SDMBM, Mangalore.
Cinematographer G S Bhaskar inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that said that when we learn the difference between the finer aspects of commercial and art films in the society.
He also said that there is art in entertainment and entertainment in art and the good films needs support and education on the films among public is necessary.
Art films make the viewer think about the various perspectives and sensitize them by making better human being.
The movies to be showcased in the film festival are Kubi Mattu Iyala, a Kannada film based on a novel by Poornachandra Tejaswi.
The film festival will showcase various critically acclaimed films by both Indian and foreign film-makers at the venue. Films like Me Shivajiraje Bhosle Boltoy(Marati), Kanjeevaram(Tamil), The Violin(Mexico), Adaminde Magan Abu(Malayalam), Il Postino(Italy), Baran(Iran) will be screened and followed by a discussion led by an expert.
Principal of SDMBM Dr Devaraj and President of Sahamatha Film Society Vasudev Ucchil were present.
