Mangalore : Karnataka Yuvajanotsava 2012, the eighth regional Catholic Youth Convention, will be held at Belthangady under the aegis of the Youth Commission of Karnataka Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council and Youth Indian Catholic Movement of Belthangady Diocese from September 28 to 30.
This was informed by Mangalore Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at a press meet at the Bishop House in Mangalore on September 26, Wednesday. The Bishop said around 5000 youth delegates from all over the state will take part in the convention the theme of which is “Transformed by Faith-Transforming the World.”
Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary who was also present, said the convention will be inaugurated by Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Fr Lawrence Mukkuzy, Geevarghese Mar Divannasios and Fr Henry D’Souza, Bishops of Mangalore, Belthangady, Puttur and Bellary respectively will participate as chief guests.
A peace march to be held on September 30 will be flagged off by Vincent Pala Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs.
A public function to be held later on will be presided over by Archbishop Bernard Morales of Bangalore. Several dignitaries including Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, Veerappa Moily, Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes, Vasanth Bangera, MLA of Belthangady, Ronald Colaco, NRI entrepreneur will participate as chief guest.
Young achievers including Roshan Ferrao, body builder from Mangalore, will be presented Karnataka Yuva Catholic Rathna Awards on the occasion.
