Mangalore : As part of Talents Day, a Tulunada Janapada Vaibhava programme was held at the University College in Mangalore on February 27, Wednesday.
Students exhibited their cultural talents by prsenting a variety of programems pertaining to culture of Tulunad including Yakshagana, Huli Vesha, Ati Kalanja, Koti Chennaya, folk dance, Kangeelu dance etc etc.
Speaking at a function held in this connection, Sarojini Shetty, noted theatre artiste and film actor, said such programmes go a long way in creating a cultural awareness in students at a time when the present generation was drifting away from the Indian culture.
Dr Lakshminarayana Bhatta, Principal of the College, presided over the function. Bhuvaneshwari Hegade, Head of the Department of Economics, gave the introductory remarks. Dr Rathi Ganapathi, Assistant Director, Fine Arts ASsociation, Pavitra B, Secretary and othes were present.
Prizes were awarded to the winners in the various contests.
