Mangaluru: A young couple threw themselves to their deaths in front of a moving train at Adyarpadavu here on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old postman Claud and his lover Jayanti (30), a salesgirl in an electronic shop.

It is said that both Claud and Jayanti, who were neighbours, were in a relationship but their families had opposed to this as they belonged to two different religions.

The couple had gone missing from their homes about two-days ago and the families thought both Claud and Jayanti might have eloped.

The bodies have been taken to Wenlock hospital. A case will be registered in Mangaluru rural police station.
