Mangalore : The seventh such annual Kannada cultural extravaganza ‘Alva’s Nudisiri – 2010,’ organized by Alva’s Education Trust, will be held from Friday October 29 to Sunday October 31.
Addressing the press meet held at Press Club on October 8, Friday, Dr Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Trust, said that this year litterateur Vaidehi will preside over the event. This is the first time in the history of Alva’s Nudisiri that a woman is presiding over the whole programme.
The president of the programme will be escorted to the venue with the cultural procession on Oct 29 at 9 am. Renowned poet Dr H Venkatesh Moorthi, will inaugurate the convention at 9.20 am. Later president Vaidehi will deliver the introductory remarks and release the book ‘Kannada Manassu: Samanvayadhedege’, on the occasion.
The convention will comprise of four seminars in which Dr Basavaraja Kalgudi and Dr Basavaraja Malashetty will present lecture on ‘Religion and Moral Values’ on the first day, while Dr Krishna Moorthy Hanoor and Dr P K Rajashekar will speak on ‘Republic and Moral Values on the second day, he said.
Dr Rajendra Chenni and Dr M V Vasu will speak on ‘Society and Moral Values’ at the afternoon session. The seminar on ‘Present situation and Moral Values’ will presented by S R Vijayashankar and T N Seetharam on Oct 31, he informed.
He also said that ten achievers from various field will be honour and conferred with the award on the occasion on the third day.
The event will also focus on poetry, stories, special lectures and humour. Various cultural programmes will also be held, he added.
Litterateur Dr N Damodar Shetty, lecturer Harish Adhur and Dhananjay Kumble were present at the press conference.
