Mangalore: A fruits and vegetables shop renovated by Hopcoms (which connects farmer to consumer directly to remove middlemen) was opened near SBI in Pandeshwar today. The Mayor Rajni Dugganna lighted the lamp to inaugurate this departmental stores where buyers pick the materials they want.
The mayor told the public that here was a shop that sold vegetables and fruits at a fair price, straight from the growers. She asked the producers (sellers) to handle their customers directly and with a smile on their faces at this stores (sales point) profitability.
DK/Udupi Dt. Hopcoms chief K. Lakshminarayan Udupa, told the buyers that Hopcoms sold its materials at a minimum rate. The buyers are at liberty to pick what they want in this new shop.
The farmers who raise these products are from Bangalore and Hassan areas. The govt, is helping us to sell the products from farms at the cheapest prices, he said.
Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar, MCC Corporators Diwakar and Ashwin, Hopcoms CMD Joe Pradeep D’Souza, Vice-chairmen Panduranga Hegde, Director of Administration Kodange Balakrishna Nayak, Bharathi Bhat, among others were present.
