Mangalore: There was and absorbing evening of literary taste and musical notes for book and music lovers in the University Hall of Ravindra Kala Bhavan in Hampankatta, on Sunday, March 18, when ‘Mandra’(slow notes) popularised by Saraswathi Samman awardee novelist, Prof. S.L. Bhyrappa in his latest novel, ‘Mandra’, in 2002, with a musical background, was taken up for delineation through singing by ustand Fayaz Ahmed Khan, and narrated in explanatory notes by Shatavadhani Dr. R. Ganesh.
‘Odugara Balaga(Group of Friends) made it possible to Unite literature, reading, and musical rendering at the local University College on Sunday evening.
Pandit Gurumurthy Vaidyalent support on harmonium, along with other artistes on Tabla and Tanpura.
The entire group of 5 or 6 distinguished persons on the dais brought alive Dr. SL Bhyrappa’s ‘Mandra’ in words and music, unheard of, together.
Dr. William D’Silva, a scholar and critic, was at hand to tell about the lover of books and inverted awareness flowing into music.
