Mangalore: The Akhila Bharatha VIdyarthi Parishat’s feminine chapter organised ‘Mardani’ (Echo), a concourse of awakened girl students, today at the Town Hall at 10AM, to discuss the role of women in this (21st) century and their opportunities. The event was organised also by state women’s commission of Bangalore whose chairperson C.Manjula inaugurated the discussions and spoke on the matter.
K.T.Shailaja Bhat, the new Chairperson of DK-ZP was in the chair. Ms.Manoraj welcomed the gathering. Aruna Nagaraj introduced the main speakers K.Swathi of ‘Mardani’ (organiser) and R.A.Akshatha chief of students’ Cell (women) ABVP in city were present.
Several subjects on women’s role, challenges, opportunities and the final session in which the summing up of discussions made, are in discussion in one-hour seminars at the same venue today.
Speaking as a key-note address maker, C.Manjula covered the gamut of Indian cultural values and gave a sincere call to all ladies to uphold and protect them for their own good and that of a society in which they exist.
She pointed out that India is treasury of world citizenry, cultural diversity and generations of unified family contented life without breakups and acting as a source of personal development. But the present day youth torn by too many attractions of science were getting derailed in their journey of exemplary living for years. Modern education, media systems, electronic gadgets are causing disruption of normal life, and political scandals unbearably add to their misery. The western broken civilizations can never be their model, Manjula affirmed and called for love of the country and social concern among youngsters.
