Mangalore : Chittara stands for Arts, Literature and Social Service-minded circle of friends in Mangalore. They arranged a programme at Mudipu on Sunday in the name of “Bhava Ninada” (Sound of Feelings), which was inaugurated by Karavali Edu-institutions  director S. Ganesh Rao of Kottara Chowki.

Rao in his speech after lighting a lamp on the occasion, pleaded for positive state of mind or attitude that contributes to success in any walk of life, but guided by self respect, not cringing desires. He called the servants of society members to develop self respect and love for work. Let problems become challenges on our path to success, he stated. He added that social service should add to finer values of life in a society and to shape them, you need immense patience.

Walter Nandalike presided over the function. Among the speakers who gave their best wishes to the servants of society in Chittara, were A.C. Bhandari, ZP member, B. R. Bhat, GM of Corp. Bank Chndrahas Karkera, Buntwal Tq vice Chairman, Balepuni GP Chief Chandrahas Alwa, Folk research scholar Dr. Koira Balepuni, Senior photo journalist Yajna, and others.

Krishna Mulya, Sheena Shetty and Padmanabha Naringana of Jana Shikshan Trust were present.

Awards were distributed to the state – level photo competition winners such as Madhusudan Mysore (I), Challakere Nisarga Govinda Raju (II) and others. Cash scholarships were given to 14 poor but talented students. Photographer Ravi Posavanike was honoured on the occasion. Chandrashekar Pathoor also spoke.

Chittara member A. Krishna Bhat welcomed the gathering. A photo exhibition was held of 4 artistes. A light music programme was arranged by Swathi Sangeetha team.
