Mangalore: The Mangalore Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering (MIFSE) at Pumpwell launched the “Save Youths from Mishaps” Campaign, inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, Prof. T.C. Shivashankar Murthy today, at Sahodaya Hall, in Balmatta at 11 am. Dr. A.S. Rao, IPS, DK dt S.P presided over the event.
Speaking after inauguration Prof. Shivashankar Murthy asked the people not to take their safety for granted in a turbulent, changing world. There could be accidents, fire, natural disasters and they give importance to human safety practices.
A small negligence or delay could invite disasters and loss of lives. To avoid accidents, information on safety is essential. Experts are visiting Colleges to educate students, on simple road safety, home safety and general public safety measures, to be quickly adopted to save lives and property, incase of a fire hazard.
Publicity campaigns are conducted, competitions are invited for Posters writing, slogans are written out and displayed and ‘Awareness’ Jathas (walks) are also conducted by these experts presently to help people in this useful campaign, observed Prof. Murthy in his address to the students and citizens.
Ramachandra Bhat Faculty member of MFISE, Ando Paul, Chairman of the Institute and T.K Sadeesan, Principal and K.A Vinod were present.
Ando. Paul welcomed the guests, including M.S. Varadarajan, Chief Fire officer of the city. Dr. A.S Rao spoke of accidental fires and safety measures to be adopted in large gatherings in halls. Principal Sadeesan thanked. Hundreds of students attended.
