Mangaluru : Thousands of people thronged the streets of Manguluru city for the ‘Hindu Samajotava’ organised by Vishwa Hindu Parishad here on Sunday, March 1.
The event was organized to mark the golden jubilee celebrations of Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Over 1.5 lac people gathered to witness the Bruhat Virat Hindu Samajotsava at Programme venue Neharu Maidan.
The procession was started from Ambedkar circle at around 2 pm, culminated at the Nehru Maidan. Music bands, cultural troupes and tableaux take part in the procession
Shops and business establishments were closed fearing disturbances in law and order situation.
Addressing reporters before the meeting, Sadhvi Balika Saraswati from Madhya Pradesh said Hindus of Dakshina Kannada district are very alert. “They believe deeply in God and follow their culture,are very polite and everybody knows about this.”
Sadhvi Balika Saraswati delivered the main address at the Virat Hindu Samajotsava Sadhvi said, Ghar Wapsi is not a bad thing, it was not a big issue as was being projected by the media.
“Nobody speaks about conversion of Hindu people, but when it comes to Ghar Wapsi, everyone gets alerted.There are 100 crore Hindus and if we do Ghar Wapsi in the right manner then the population of Hindus would be 125 crore,” she said.
Vishweshteertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math said Bhagavad Geeta gives message of humanitarianism and equality. Varna is not classification of birth but a classification of human behaviour and internal system, he said.
Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dr D Veerendra Heggade said, Samajotsava is guiding religious message to the Hindu community. Hindus should follow the culture of Hindu religion in our lives, he added.
Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, Jagadish Shenava, M B Puranik, Sharan Pumpwell, Ganesh Karnik, Nagaraj Shetty, and others were present.
